Body
Care - Hands and Nails
|
You
can tell a lot about a person by their hands;
the hand gestures that they make, their
introductory hand shake and even the state of
their nails, which also says a lot about the
state of a persons health and even the type of
work that a person does. The
palm of a persons hand distinguishes each person
from every other. Your hands are also the first
place to show obvious signs of aging, like brown
spots and of course wrinkling, which should not
be at all too surprising considering all the
kitchen detergents, cleaning products, harsh
bathroom soaps and the excessive amounts of
water that we put our hands in every single day.
Despite these rigorous demands that are placed
on them, beautiful well groomed hands and nails
are one of the first things that is usually
noticed about any person.

One of
the simplest ways to keep your hands soft and
nourished is by using a good moisturizer on them
everyday. It's also a good idea to use one with
a spf especially since your hands are exposed to
the sun more than any other part of your body.
You could even use a deep nourishing treatment
while you are sleeping, by slathering your hands
with a rich, moisturizing cream and then
covering them with a pair of cotton gloves and
by doing this as a weekly treatment in your
beauty routine, you'll definitely soon notice
the very welcome difference.

In
order to help yourself to prevent nail
breakages: You
should always make sure that you are wearing
rubber gloves as you wash your dishes etc, as
prolonged exposure to water will leave your
nails soft and breakable. When
opening your mail never use your nails to slice
the envelopes open as this will weaken them. Never cut
the cuticles off your nails as this will just
make them grow back a lot harder and thicker
than what they were to begin with. Never
over expose your nails to the sun as it causes
damage by drying out the nails natural oils. Always
avoid filing your nails into the corners as this
weakens them and makes them a lot more likely to
break.

Your
finger nails reveal a lot about your personal
habits and your state of health. Below is a
really good listing of several things that you
can do for yourself and well being, especially
when your body is sending out all the "help
me" warning signals to you that you should
never ignore.
|
| Blue
Nails |
Nails
and finger tips that have a slightly blue tinge
indicate poor circulation or anemia. Exercise
can help improve poor circulation, while anemia
may be due to lack of iron. So eat iron rich
foods such as red meat, seafood, liver, eggs and
whole grains.

If your
nails are thin, white and very fragile you may
have a calcium deficiency. If this is the case
eat more dairy products, green vegetables and
salmon. |
| Yellow
Nails |
Leaving
colored nail polish on for way too long could
cause nails to discolor. Prevent the problem by
always applying a base coat underneath your
polish and never leave your polish on for more
than a week at a time. |
| Fragile
Nails |
Cleaning
products and detergents can cause nails to
weaken and break off. Always protect your nails
and hands as well for that matter, by wearing
rubber gloves when doing the washing and
cleaning around the house. |
| White
Nails |
These
spots are caused by a lack of zinc which plays a
big role in the maintenance of healthy hair and
nails. To counter this problem, eat foods that
are rich in zinc like sea foods, whole grains,
eggs, carrots and beans. |
